Big Day Out 07

i apologize to you all for not updating sooner, gah~! im terrible...
anyway BDO 07 was fantastic or fantabulous if you're silly =]
Peter and i flew up the day before and spent a day at his uncle Mike's house.
At Mike's house i swam in a pool for the first time in 4-5 years (yea i know...), luckily i could still swim...kinda...
Mike is so cool =D he is so young in the head ^^ he gets along great with young people.
Peter's 3 cousins , Justin, Dom and Bernardo are all very cool as well.
Bernardo (13) will be starting college this year.
Dominic (18) who spends most of his time out of the house managed to elude us until Friday morning.
Justin (22) took care of us for most of the time that we were up in Auckland.

Friday 19th Jan
Weather - Sunny and Hot

Peter and i both got up, showered, ate breakfast, the usual morning ritual really.
we both put on the "Free Hugs" T shirts that we designed and custom made 3 days earlier and got ready for some serious moshing, rampaging and hugging =D now if only Justin who is taking us to BDO would get up =P
eventually he DID and got ready as well, wearing his thick, black leather trench coat Justin looked out of place under the blazing sun and surrounded people who wore sunnies, Ts and shorts. We also caught up with 2 friends from school (Patrick and Callum)

When we did manage to get in it was noon, just in time to catch Trivium.
We went into the "D zone" (a fenced semicircle in front of the stage) and raged for 45min, jumping up and down and screaming our lungs out. after Trivium we were all drenched in sweat and in need of a drink so we set off towards the misting tent accompanied by Daniel (one of Peter's childhood friends who we met during Trivium). the misting tent is an ingenious invention, its a tent the shape of a tunnel that drizzles, it rains cold water as you pass through it. so refreshing if you are sweat drenched and dehydrated ^^

After a much needed drink and lunch me and Peter went "hug hunting" in our amazingly cool T shirts, it was good fun =D most of the hugs were from girls though as some guys tend to be either too shy or homophobic =] not that we're complaining ^^
next up was Jet, they were quite soft compared to Trivium and i've always liked them so it was a very good show =]
then it was back to more hug hunting and consuming food bought at ridiculous prices. (pie $3.50, hotdog $4.50, can of V $4, bottle of water $4.50 etc)

after getting about 100+ hugs each me and Peter set off for the biggest event of the day, Tool. we thought we would be smart and go there two shows before Tool (The Killers) but its seems like everyone had that idea. We had to fight a sea of people to get into the D zone for Tool...but we did and we almost died, but we did.
standing there battered, bruised and exhausted we waited for Tool to appear. then Muse came on (the show before Tool) and they really got the crowd going, i must admit Muse was very very good live. very impressive.

finally when Tool came on most people were exhausted from previous acts but everyone got into it when they finally started playing. Maynard (lead singer), who is usually bald appeared on stage in a very bright orange hoody and a short mow hawk set the crowd off. the atmosphere was electric, the crowd could be set off with just a spark, with just one note of an all too familiar song. it was radical ^^
after seeing Tool live i can cross off one of the things on my "to do before i die" list.
they will be coming back at the end of this year and BDO 08 will be even better...cause ill be 18 by then =D

hope that you all come with Peter and i next year cause its so awesome ^^
